Preparations

Mom and Dad have made the decision to move in with us in January. Coming from Florida to Oklahoma in January is an adjustment for anyone, but more so for people who have lived in Florida for the past 22 years. I have been joking with them, that we will need to get them weight belts for Christmas, so they will not blow away in the crazy Oklahoma spring winds. Joking aside, we are worried about them coming here in the cold winter. We want them to get out and about and get to know the area. We are a bit afraid that the cold weather will keep them house bound. I have been researching senior centers for Mom and American Legion halls for a place for Dad to hang out. Haven't gotten much info on them yet other than they exist.

Work on both sides has started. We had to select a moving company, car carrier, place adds for them to sell some of their furniture, as well as research stair lift chairs. It is amazing what can be done on the internet these days. Within minutes, I had quotes from moving companies and car transport companies. Of course the challenge is to find a good price with a professional and bonded service providers. Mission accomplished! The moving van will arrive on January 18th and the car transport company sometime before then. How did they do it in the olden days before the web?

Next Up - Stair Lift: After doing lots of research, I have found what appears to be a good, moderately priced stair lift. A local store had demos to look at and try out. They are very well built, quiet and stable. Should I order on-line and save a few dollars or purchase from our local store? I think a little more research is in order. They install easy, a project Bob and I can tackle for sure.
